Karen Sussman-Bard, Director of Marketing, Volunteer Services and Patient Advocacy at Texas Orthopedic Hospital held a raffle in the hospital's lobby the first week of April 2005. Karen was inspired to action after seeing a Discovery Channel special on children with Progeria. Being a mother herself, she wanted to help the children, saying, "Your organization touches so many and it also provided me with an opportunity to share your newsletter to educate others". During the raffle, she handed out copies of the latest PRF newsletter to all who participated. The grand prize for the raffle was an NBA basket full of goodies, including an autographed Yao Ming jersey, cup, calendar, bobble heads and more! She raised $375.00 for Progeria Research.
