Season's Greetings Everyone,
What an exciting year of progress! Join us in reflecting on PRF's remarkable journey from obscurity to global presence and influence in just over 10 years!! Here is what your donations have helped make possible:
With the end of patient visits for the first-ever Progeria clinical drug trial, we will soon know if we have found an effective treatment in the FTI drug.
PRF has moved quickly to start a larger trial, adding two drugs that, together with FTI's, may help the children even more. Now at its half-way point, the "Triple Drug Trial" is fully enrolled with 45 children from 24 countries.
A landmark study, led by PRF's Medical Director, demonstrates the Progeria-causing protein Progerin increases in everyone as we age, suggesting a possible new risk factor for heart disease.
Our 2010 International Workshop was a phenomenal success. Leading scientists in the fields of heart disease, aging, genetics, and lamins inspired each other as they shared cutting-edge findings and directions for continued research.
PRF published the first ever Progeria Handbook. This 100-page book answers important questions for families of children with Progeria and their doctors worldwide, from basic health facts to daily care advice to extensive treatment guidelines.
"Find the Other 150", PRF's global campaign to find all children with Progeria, has been an exceptional success in its 1st year, resulting in a 31% increase in the number of children identified. More kids than ever are now getting the support they need.
PRF and Progeria's mounting visibility through television and social media networking using Twitter and Facebook continues, including a feature on The Dr. Oz Show and a Barbara Walters 20/20 special.
PRF unveils its new logo, web site and brochure, producing a fresh look and updates to its brand and informational material.
You can ensure that together, we will find the cure for Progeria by making a donation.
Thank you for supporting PRF and continuing to be part of our extraordinary journey. All of us at PRF wish you Happy Holidays and a peaceful New Year.
