ROTC Students Continue to Volunteer for PRF

Peabody Veterans' Memorial High School has a great group of young men and women who have volunteered for PRF in many ways. Approximately 30 students spent time in October 2003 to help put together our Primetime mailing - what a big help! They also helped at both Races for Research by posing as the costume characters, handing out t-shirts, and directing the race participants along the route. And they have offered to help out in the future as well - what a fantastic group of young volunteers!

Delitalia puts out Collection Can for PRF

A heartfelt thank you to the Balzi family of Delitalia deli on Danbury Road in New Milford, CT. for devoting the time and energy to educate their customers about Progeria and The Progeria Research Foundation. Delitalia is a full service deli serving hot and cold lunches, 3 and 6-foot heroes and Italian imports and specialties - YUM! They placed literature and a collection can by the register to encourage customers to place their change in the can. And to top it off, a miracle maker customer matched the $250 raised so far - in just one month!

John Jr., John and Fran Balzi of Delitalia are all smiles as they proudly display the PRF collection can and literature.

Just think - if 100 cans collected $500 in a year ($40 per month), That's $50,000 - enough to fund a research grant from people's change- - WOW! THIS is how miracles happen!! Call today and we'll send you a can to put in your local store.

Celebrating a birthday -- PRF comes out the winner!

Margaret Eatock from England celebrated a special birthday this year by raising £606 (over $1,000 US) for the benefit of PRF! She collected 44 birthday cards and donations from friends and colleagues who made donations or joined in the activities of the day. What a wonderful way to make an already special day even more special.

Teen helps Progeria kids

Lauren of Newcastle Under Lyme is a special 13 year old with lots of energy and passion. Moved by a TV documentary in England about Hayley, a child with Progeria, she organized a fundraiser that included family and friends, designing her own brochure about Progeria to help educate others about PRF's mission and raise money. Her goal was "to bring a little sunshine to the lives of children with Progeria." She raised £100 ($172). Lauren, welcome to the PRF team!

RUN, RUN, RUN for Progeria Research!

Several people have run in marathons on behalf of PRF, putting in a lot of time and effort into getting sponsors to donate money to PRF for their run. Here are a few recent runners that deserve a big thank you:

"OZZY OSBORNE" Runs for PRF Not only did Alan McWhirter train to run Dublin's 26.2 mile marathon in October, but also he decided to REALLY gain attention by dressing up as Ozzy Osborne for the race! Through sponsorships from friends, family and colleagues, Alan raised over £600 for Progeria research - a true Miracle! " I ended up really enjoying my time dressed as Ozzy Osborne", says Alan, "It was great to do so much yelling!" And congratulations, Alan, for beating your previous best time for a marathon by 27 minutes!

New York Marathoner and long-time supporter of PRF Niamh Clinton completed this famous race while raising money for PRF. Many of his colleagues at Alliance Capital management made donations that were matched by the company. Great job!

Susan Sykes raised 300 Pounds - over $500! by running in a race in England this past summer and has pledged to do it again next year. Training in her PRF t-shirt, Susan had a great time. "When people asked me what Progeria was, I explained it to them, so maybe people will become more aware." We're sur e they will, Susan!

Susan is all smiles after completely the race.
