November 2011: Molly and BSKINZ Headbands…What a team!

Kids like Molly helping to raise money for Team Zoey, the NJ Chapter of PRF, is what gives us HOPE that We WILL Find The Cure For PROGERIA!

A New Jersey Teen’s Offer to Help Results in Major Annual Event!


In August 2011, Kathleen Quinn contacted PRF with an idea: "I'd like to organize a road race". Three months later and, with the help of the NJ Chapter's Team Zoey and her friends, Kathleen's idea became a reality beyond her wildest dreams. More than 800 people participated in 1st Annual 5K Turkey Trot. The race was a huge success, raising over $37, 000, and she is already looking forward to next year's race!

Thank you Kathleen, for your idea, enthusiasm and ongoing commitment to children with Progeria.

September 2011: Team 777 races past its fundraising goal!

7 amazing students in the 7th grade from the Higgins Middle School in Peabody, MA. set out to raise $700 in donations for the 10th Annual International Race for Research. Not only did this group of runners complete the 5k race, they raised over $1,000! Congratulations Team 777! Can't wait to see what fun fundraising ideas you come up with for next year's race!

August 2011: “Kind Cups” of Lemonade – Spreading kindness for a cure.

Mackenzie and Ava set up a stand to sell "Kind Cups" of lemonade in Pittsburg, PA to raise money for Progeria research. These devoted young ladies worked at the stand for eight hours and with the support of neighbors, family and local Police Officers, the pair raised more than $100! Now that's a lot of "Kind Cups"!

Thank you Mackenzie and Ava for being so kind and making a difference in the lives of children with Progeria!

June 2011: Central Wisconsin Christian (CWC) School fundraiser a tasty success!

Becca, a student and family friend of Megan Nighbor, wanted to do something to help fund research for Progeria, so along with her family and friends at CWC in Waupun, WI. she held an after school lunch fundraiser. The event was so well received she raised over $1,200 in just a few hours! Thank you to Becca, her family and friends at CWC for all their hard work in making this fundraiser such an amazing success.

May 2011: Mr. Pharmacy Crowned at University of Kansas, 1st Official Act: Support PRF!

The Rho Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, at the University of Kansas held its annual Mr. Pharmacy Pageant this spring. Eight male students participated in the event which consisted of three categories; formal wear, talent and interview. Audience members were asked to vote for their favorite contestant by donating a dollar. Kynan Gibson, a third-year pharmacy student was crowned Mr. Pharmacy 2011! Kynan chose The Progeria Research Foundation to receive the proceeds from the pageant voting. Thank you Kynan, we hope you enjoy your reign as Mr. Pharmacy 2011!
