 Join us for our 2010
Coins to Cure Progeria
© challenge!

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Accept the challenge to help us raise money for a cure!
  • Request a can at coinstocureprogeria@progeriaresearch.org
  • Place the can in your home, office, and/or local businesses.
  • Convenience stores, pizza shops and other high traffic, cash-based businesses do very well!
  • Fill your can often with spare change. Encourage family, friends & fellow workers to do so, too.
  • When can is full, convert coins to bills, check or money order and send to:
    P.O. Box 3453, Peabody, MA   01961
  • If the can is placed in a local business, it’s your responsibility to check in often to empty it.  Put a label on the bottom of the can with your name and phone number so they can easily contact you.
  • Start all over again – continue to periodically send us your collected change!
  • By filling cans in this way, you can raise lots of money each year -- just from spare change!

Janet Raises Money with Cans in UK!

Moved to help because of England’s Hayley and Michaela, Janet Thomas has placed cans in local shops, inns, and banks in Sidley and Bexhill, and in just two months, they have collected £132.40 (US $250).   “I have two boys and if I ever needed help with them I wish that someone would be there for me, so I want to be there for others, “explains Janet. “Next year I hope to raise a lot more.”   Thank you, Janet, and thanks to all the owners and workers in the stores who are helping as well.

Connecticut College Opens their Hearts and Wallets for PRF!

Rebecca has been passionate about PRF and the children with Progeria ever since she did a research project on DNA in high school.     She has been a PRF supporter since March 2006, and together with her friend Matt, began to raise awareness at the campus of Connecticut College.   She and Matt joined our Coins to Cure Progeria©" challenge and set up cans across campus at the library reference desk, the library café, and the administration building.   They also ran a competition amongst five dorms to see who could raise the most money with the cans. The College raised $450!   Thank you to Rebecca and Matt for your tireless efforts on behalf of children with Progeria.

National Mrs. South Carolina is passionate about “Coins to Cure Progeria” challenge!

Elizabeth Aiken became a PRF volunteer after learning about us through the National Mrs. Pageant in early 2006. She has placed over 25 of our “Coins to Cure” collection cans in businesses in her local community in South Carolina. Through her role as a National Mrs., Elizabeth helps spread public awareness about Progeria and raise funds to find a cure. With volunteers like Elizabeth – and YOU! – on our team, this challenge is sure to be successful.
