JUNE 2010: best friends hold second jewelry fundraiser!

Back in 2008, friends Lindsay, Gabrielle, Alexa, and Carly spent months crafting beautiful handmade jewelry to sell in front of a local Wal-Mart, as part of their mitzvah (Hebrew for "good deed") project. They had so much fun they decided to do it again this year, so after spending several hours creating beaded earrings, bracelets, necklaces and cell phone charms, they once again set up shop at Wal-Mart Danvers, talked to customers about Progeria and raised over $250. Thanks, girls, for doing such good deeds while having a great time with your BFF's!

March 2010: Teen Devises “Crafty” Way to Support PRF

13 year old Allie from Melville, NY, became aware of Progeria when she saw “Hayley’s Story” last spring. That summer at camp, while making bracelets with her friends, Allie decided to turn the craft into a fundraiser. Not only did she raise almost $200 from selling her colorful bracelets at her temple, but she also sent us several to give to the children, to “put a smile on a child’s face”. PRF and the children are lucky to have such talented, generous and thoughtful friends!

February 2010: Blogging About Progeria

Amanda, a Junior Broadcast Journalism major at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, is producing a blog called “Ensure a Cure”, as a school project. The blog, which includes photos, podcasts and a video interview with PRF’s Director Audrey Gordon, is dedicated to education about Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome and the work that The Progeria Research Foundation is doing. Amanda, who is also the Associate Producer for Quinnipiac’s Q30 News and a main anchor for the show, is doing her part to raise awareness of Progeria and PRF. Check out her blog here: http://ensurecure.wordpress.com/ Great job, Amanda, and remember to do a feature on us when you’re a famous news anchor!
