On Saturday evening, November 12, 2011, nearly 400 people descended upon the Boston Marriott in Cambridge, MA to enjoy a fabulous night of food, drinks, bidding and entertainment like never before, raising over $250,000 to help color a cure for Progeria.
|Sam and Francis Collins celebrate the night's success and
Dr. Collins' Science & Medicine (SAM) Award for his
contributions towards finding the cause, treatment
and cure for children with Progeria
The guests started the evening with an introduction to BidPal electronic bidding devices, which everyone loved because they were able to bid from anywhere in the room! After enjoying scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and signature "tie-dye-tini" drinks sponsored by Grey Goose, the beautifully decorated ballroom was opened up and performance artist Nancy Ostrovsky painted two works of art to saxophone music provided by the very talented Henry Lucas. Next came moving speeches and awards, followed by a fun and competitive live auction and topped off with dozens of guests contributing to our Circle of Hope fund. Dinner and dancing til midnight followed as the night came to a close.
Highlights of the evening included eloquent speeches by Sam Berns and gala Chair Vickie Robbin; Dr. FrancisCollins' guitar-playing of a song written just for PRF; and Carly's parents'plea for support for the upcoming 4-drug clinical trial.
THANK YOU to all who supported this event. Whether you were a guest, sponsor, volunteer, advertiser, auction donor or made a donation in honor of the event, you ALL made it possible to raise vital dollars for Progeria research.
