The race's success was due in large part to the major sponsorship of North Shore Bank, and all the other sponsors:American Beverage Corporation, Lew & Alice Berns, B & B Gordon Associates, Costco, Eastman Gelatine Corporation, Hannaford, Hood, John R. Keilty, Esq., North Shore Tile & Marble Co., Smerczynski & Conn, PC, Total Entertainment, All Kinds of Signs, Champions Pub, Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Danubio Chiropractic Offices, Eastern Land Survey Associates, Barry Feinstein, Esq., Foto Werks, Harvey and Honey Freeman, Gerald T. McCarthy Insurance Agency, Gravoc Associates, McDonald's, Northeast Nursery, Santoro's of Peabody, Saucony, Shaw's, Stadium Oil Heat, Stop 'n Shop, and Congressman John F. Tierney.

Hundreds of people gathered at Peabody City Hall to enjoy a picture perfect day, running through the streets of downtown Peabody. Spongebob Squarepants, Scooby Doo and Tigger were also there to greet runners and walkers, and everyone enjoyed lots of delicious food and drinks while the awards were given out. Congratulations to Sam Berns and the McGuiness family, who raised the most money through sponsorships - everyone was a Race for Research Hero!
