Clarification: UK Documentary features Indian Children with Progeroid Syndrome
On Monday, February 13th, the UK's Channel 4 aired a documentary entitled, "Bodyshock: The 80-Year-Old Children" that follows a family in India whose five children all have a form of a progeroid syndrome that is not the classic, Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) that PRF is involved with. Unlike HGPS, the progeroid syndrome the children in India have appears to be hereditary, as all of the siblings display the signs of it. HGPS is not hereditary.
PRF's medical director, Dr. Leslie Gordon, is interviewed in the documentary to provide an overview of HGPS, PRF's role in advancing research in the field, and the difference between Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) and other progeroid syndromes, including the one the Indian children appear to have.
