The Progeria Research Foundation is honoring the life of our Progeria researcher and PRF spokesperson, Sammy Basso. Sammy sadly passed away at the age of 28 on October 5, 2024.<\/p>\n
Sammy was the oldest known person living with classic Progeria, which gave him a unique perspective on life and an extraordinary drive to connect with others. He was known and adored throughout the world for his phenomenal optimism, his infectious warmth and kindness, and boundless resilience.<\/p>\n
As one of the first to participate in PRF\u2019s clinical trials, Sammy became a tireless advocate for Progeria awareness at a young age. Sammy dedicated his adult life to contributing to scientific research\u2014earning a master’s degree in molecular biology and later joining other world-class researchers on PRF\u2019s core gene editing team.<\/p>\n
