Genetic Testing
for Progeria
Progeria is caused by a typo in a single letter of DNA in the LMNA gene. A research-based genetic test can detect this mutation definitively. PRF offers this genetic test at no cost to families and physicians, globally, providing the clarity needed to move forward.
A confirmed diagnosis means:
- Access to lonafarnib, the FDA-approved treatment for Progeria
- Earlier medical intervention and better quality of life
- Connection to PRF's global network of specialists, resources, and family community
- Contribution to research actively moving toward a cure
PRF's Medical Director, Dr. Leslie Gordon, will first review the child's clinical history to determine whether genetic testing isappropriate. If Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) is a possible diagnosis, PRF will guide you and your physician through next steps. All information is kept strictly confidential.

For physicians and scientists: PRF's diagnostic testing is performed by a CLIA-approved laboratory.
