Nu hun eerste en primaire doel om het Progeria-gen te vinden is bereikt, gaan ze verder met het gedetailleerd bestuderen van het gendefect.<\/p>\n<p>23 augustus 2002: Eerste bijeenkomst van het Genetics Consortium in Providence, Rhode Island<br \/>\nHet Progeria Research Foundation Genetics Consortium, opgericht en georganiseerd door PRF&#039;s medisch directeur Dr. Leslie B. Gordon, hield zijn eerste bijeenkomst op Brown University in Providence, RI, op 23 augustus 2002. Het PRF Genetics Consortium brengt experts van over de hele wereld samen en bevordert de vooruitgang in Progeria-onderzoek door te zoeken naar het gen voor Progeria en door de ziekte te karakteriseren met behulp van genetische technieken. Leden van het PRF Genetics Consortium kwamen bijeen om hun laboratoriumgegevens te delen en hun intellectuele en laboratoriumbronnen te bundelen om zeer veelbelovende samenwerkingen te cre\u00ebren.
