Em novembro de 2020, a PRF reuniu mais de 370 inscritos de 30 pa\u00edses em nosso primeiro workshop cient\u00edfico virtual. Os participantes receberam uma plataforma para compartilhar sua expertise em pesquisa sobre Progeria e conhecer algumas das crian\u00e7as que se beneficiar\u00e3o de seu trabalho. Um resumo do workshop foi publicado hoje no peri\u00f3dico Envelhecimento<\/em><\/a>. Os participantes inclu\u00edram m\u00e9dicos, cientistas e pesquisadores pr\u00e9-cl\u00ednicos de classe mundial, al\u00e9m de fam\u00edlias de crian\u00e7as e jovens adultos com Prog\u00e9ria.<\/p>\n

As apresenta\u00e7\u00f5es das fam\u00edlias dos pacientes lideraram o programa, seguidas por atualiza\u00e7\u00f5es sobre o primeiro pedido da Progeria para aprova\u00e7\u00e3o de medicamento pela FDA (que foi concedido mais tarde naquele m\u00eas<\/a>), bem como resultados iniciais do \u00fanico ensaio cl\u00ednico atual de Progeria. Isso foi seguido por apresenta\u00e7\u00f5es de dados pr\u00e9-cl\u00ednicos n\u00e3o publicados sobre medicamentos em desenvolvimento visando a muta\u00e7\u00e3o de DNA causadora da doen\u00e7a, o mRNA aberrante, a prote\u00edna progerina e suas prote\u00ednas efetoras downstream. Amarrando o laborat\u00f3rio \u00e0 cabeceira, os cl\u00ednicos apresentaram novas descobertas sobre a hist\u00f3ria natural da doen\u00e7a para informar o desenvolvimento futuro de ensaios cl\u00ednicos e novos procedimentos de substitui\u00e7\u00e3o da v\u00e1lvula a\u00f3rtica de Progeria. O programa envolveu a comunidade de pesquisa de Progeria como uma \u00fanica unidade com um objetivo comum - tratar e curar crian\u00e7as com Progeria em todo o mundo.<\/p>\n
