A fam\u00edlia de Sam Berns confirmou hoje que ele faleceu na noite de sexta-feira, 10 de janeiro de 2014, devido a complica\u00e7\u00f5es da Prog\u00e9ria.<\/p>\n
Sam, de 17 anos, foi diagnosticado aos 22 meses de idade com Progeria. Seus pais, Drs. Leslie Gordon e Scott Berns, fundaram a The Progeria Research Foundation em 1999 para encontrar a causa, o tratamento e a cura. Crian\u00e7as com Progeria vivem em m\u00e9dia 13 anos.<\/p>\n
Em 2013, a HBO Documentaries transmitiu a hist\u00f3ria de Sam Berns em A vida segundo Sam <\/a>, e sua coragem e esp\u00edrito comoveram todos que o conheceram pessoalmente ou foram inspirados por sua hist\u00f3ria.
