PRF has entered into a manufacturing agreement with\u00a0Forge Biologics\u00a0<\/a>to produce\u00a0SamPro-2<\/strong> – PRF\u2019s investigational gene-editing therapy designed to correct the gene mutation that causes Progeria.<\/p>\n

This is a defining step toward Progeria gene therapy clinical trials.<\/p>\n

What is SamPro-2?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

<\/strong>SamPro-2 is PRF\u2019s gene editing therapy designed to correct the single DNA letter misspelling that causes Progeria.<\/p>\n

DNA is the body\u2019s instruction manual. In children and young adults with Progeria, one single letter in that manual is wrong \u2013 there is a \u201cT\u201d that should be a \u201cC\u201d. That single-letter change leads to the production of a toxic protein called progerin that causes the disease.<\/p>\n

SamPro-2 is built to correct that error \u2014 permanently changing the \u201cT\u201d back to a \u201cC\u201d \u2014 with the goal of stopping the disease inside the body\u2019s cells at its source.<\/p>\n
