Research
Grants

PRF funds the world's most promising Progeria research, directing resources toward discoveries that will extend and improve the lives of children and young adults living with Progeria, and ultimately lead to a cure.

Since 1999, PRF has funded research grants totaling over $9.1 million. That investment has helped transform the field from fewer than 2 publications per year to more than 130 annually, and facilitated the discovery of the disease-causing protein progerin, and the first FDA-approved treatment for Progeria.

PRF's granting program operates through two pathways:

Proactive Pathway: PRF identifies specific research needs and seeks out laboratories best positioned to address them. Researchers may be approached directly to develop proposals aligned with PRF's current scientific priorities.

Investigator-Driven Pathway: Researchers with relevant projects are welcome to initiate contact by submitting a brief abstract to [email protected]. There is no set deadline. Full proposals are by invitation only and are reviewed by independent subject matter experts.

We are incredibly grateful to our Medical Research Committee volunteers who helped advance the trajectory of progeria research in such a meaningful way for more than two decades!
