Headed by Amazing Aunt Sue, Megan Nighbor's family and friends held a 2-day Summer Splash Benefit in Wisconsin July 22-23. This event had it all: a pool tournament, raffles, Karaoke contest, cribbage matches, a kids pedal pull, dunk tank, face painting, a bake sale (you have never seen a bake sale quite like this!), a motorcycle ride by the Freedom Riders, Disc Jockey, silent and live auctions, a craft fair and a live band that had everyone up on the dance floor, raising thousands of dollars for Progeria research. The highlight of it all was a gift of a miniature pony for Megan - a dream come true for this 5-year-old horse lover. In an emotional speech of thanks, mom Sandy said, "Megan's wish has come true, now all we need is for our dream to come true - a cure for Megan."
Many thanks to owners Marie Scharr and Dennis Schueler, Jr. from Headers Sports Bar & Grille in Kingston for all they did for two days and nights as hundreds poured in for the activities. Also thanks to The Silver Spur bar for holding the cribbage tournament, the Kingston Mill Pond Library and National Exchange Bank for space for the Saturday morning bake sale (YUM!), the newspapers, TV and radio stations for promoting the event, the Freedom Riders for riding for Megan, TuDrunc2Fish and Stephanie for the rockin' music, and of course to the dozens of volunteers and businesses that made this wonderful weekend possible.
