“Reaching for the cure as progeria research comes of age at the 12th international scientific workshop“
Our comprehensive meeting summary covering current treatments, cardiovascular disease, gene therapy advances, and six strategic priorities moving forward has been published in Nature Aging and is free to read and share.
SCIENCE MEETS HUMANITY
The workshop opened with an unprecedented patient panel composed entirely of young adults living with Progeria. Merlin, Kaylee, Amber, 그리고 Michiel shared powerful insights into participating in clinical trials and navigating life with Progeria from childhood to adulthood. Their candid discussion captured the attention, hearts, and inspiration of everyone in the room.
Attendees were also moved by a tribute to 새미 바소, beloved patient and advocate, whose own words were shared through a film created by his best friend Riccardo. The evening closed with a musical performance by 프랜시스 콜린스 박사, former NIH Director and 20-year contributor to Progeria research.
BUILT ON COLLABORATION
The workshop closed in a circle – literally – with an open. reflective conversation about where the field goes next. The Progeria research community aligned around six strategic priorities to guide development of novel therapies for Progeria. Read the full details in the Nature Aging report.
Moments like this are what make PRF’s workshops so special. They create space for openness, collaboration, and a shared commitment to moving science forward, TOGETHER!
