Looking for “gutsy go-getters whose innovative thinking, intrepid spirit and influential lives make you feel as if anything is possible,” Working Mother magazine has selected Dr. Leslie Gordon, co-founder of The Progeria Research Foundation and mother of 9-year-old Sam, as one of their 2006 Working Mothers of the Year. “Both as a mother and a scientist, I couldn’t accept that there was nothing out there to help my child.”

Also recognized is actor Susan Sarandon for her work as a UNICEF ambassador and activist, as well as the first female fire chief in Arizona, and an aspiring corporate manager. All will be honored at an awards ceremony in New York City on May 16th. The full article can be found in the May issue of Working Mother.
