July 30, 2003: Second Genetics/Research Consortium Meeting Held in Bethesda, Maryland
After the 2-day Workshop, the PRF Research Consortium (formerly the Genetics Consortium) met in Bethesda, MD to continue their commitment to find a cure for Progeria through collaboration. Their first and primary goal of finding the Progeria gene having been accomplished, they are now moving forward with studying the gene defect in detail.
August 23, 2002: First Genetics Consortium Meeting Held in Providence, Rhode Island
The Progeria Research Foundation Genetics Consortium, created and organized by PRF’s Medical Director Dr. Leslie B. Gordon, held its first meeting at Brown University in Providence, RI, on August 23, 2002. Bringing together experts throughout the world, The PRF Genetics Consortium fosters progress in Progeria research by searching for the gene for Progeria and by characterizing the disease using genetics techniques. Members of the PRF Genetics Consortium gathered to share their laboratory data and pool their intellectual and laboratory resources to create highly promising collaborations.
